About Us

KART is a collaboration between mother-daughter team Suellen Stubbs and Catherine Anicic. Suellen is an award winning sculptor, her work is in galleries and private collections, and has worked with young children as a teacher, artist in residence and pre -school director for over 30 years. Catherine has a Bachelor of Fine Arts specialising in drawing and painting and has also worked in adult education, training flight attendants in the airline industry. She is currently exhibiting her paintings in a number of galleries in Melbourne.

The KART program was born out of Suellen's desire to offer something more to the children at her pre-school who didn't seem satisfied with normal pre-school activities. Drawing on her extensive artistic background, she simplified fine art principles to a level children could understand and worked with topics that interested them.

The program was a success, and Suellen was so inspired by the positive developments the children experienced as a result of the program that she decided to share it with other teachers and parents. A workshop format was created, where consultants could demonstrate the many different techniques she had developed.

Suellen resides in Nambucca Heads, New South Wales, where she offers a range of workshop options for adults, as well as working with children in some of the local schools. She has received a number of awards and certificates, including the 2004 NSW Children's Week Child Development Award, a Certificate of Appreciation from Nambucca Valley Playgroups, a Certificate of Recognition from the National Institute for Quality Teaching and School Leadership (NIQTSL) and a Certificate of Recognition from the Tenacity 2006 Art Competition for valuable contributions to children's art. In 2012 to 2014 Suellen introduced the KART concepts to The Kindergarten in Kempsey while working as the artist in residence there.

Catherine lives in Melbourne, and offers workshops for adults and children. She has worked closely with the local pre-school and Wembley primary school. Catherine completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction in 2014. Workshops can be tailor made to suit your time and your budget. When workshops are organised in other areas, they are more than happy to come to you.
